Can you guys help me ID the type arowana this is?

I disagree, it's a Silver Aro. The second pic shows it all. The faint pattern in the tail fin is consistent with a silver aro's, which the black lacks, and the pink/green mark behind the gills is also a silver aro marking. It is hard to tell in the other pics because the fish is stressed and quite faded.

you are right. wink.gif the 2nd pic looks like a silver. the fins in the 1st and 3rd pic looks like a black. blush21.gif

Well I can neither agree nor disagree with you because of my lack knowledge on arowanas. The fish was purchased under the name "tank bred blue arowana." The fish have dark black running down the lenght of their backs. They have a definite blue hue to them. Whether they are stressed or not I dont know, they have been in the tank for a week now and have been eating for the whole time. I am willing to believe that they are silvers but I just dont understand why then are they not shinny silver?

It's a juvie silver aro. You can tell by the pinkish yellow rim behind the gills. Juvie black aro don't have that.

Here is a juvie black aro for comparison.
