Since I got this arowana I've problems from the get go, when I first got it it seemed to have something with the swim bladder and sit on the bottom alot and had a slightly bent down tail. I've now had it for a few months now and has now grown and swims fine but now since it has gotten bigger the tail is much more noticeably droopy. Is there any thing I can do about this or is it deformed for life?

Whats your opinion?

How large is the Aro and what are the tank dimensions?

veryangry.gif Hope it works this time.

Ok! I think it works now, third time lucky.

At the moment its in a 3ft tank on its own. It needs an upgrade it been in there since itwas 11cm and is now about 16cm. Its stuck in that tank for now cause its too small gor the big tank and I worried it'll get nailed by my gars.

When I first got this Aro it had symptoms of a swim bladder problem and swam on a slight angle, gulped alot of air, passed bubbles from its anus and had a dropped or bent tail. All these symptoms were consistent with this article. http://arowanaclub.com/stories.php?story=03/03/02/6700203

It now is healthy and has grown out and has none of these symptoms except for a relly noticeable bent tail.

I would have asked for your money back right away...I don't think that tail will ever correct itself...looks like a birth defect or growth deformity. Other than that the fish looks healthy and in need of a much larger tank.

Also, keep in mind...Asian Arowanas are illegal in the US, chipped or not... smile.gif

My husband says, "sorry, the sooner you hit it on the head with a brick, the less disapointed you will be". thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Asking for money back is easier said then done as it was bought interstate and the seller has already refused a refund. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

If it didnt cost me so much I would have aleady given it a brick! veryangry.gif

I'd say that you're pretty much out that money since the fish was sold illegally anyways. No way that seller is going to even admit to it...

Yeah i knew my money was long gone so I a posted a complaint at the forum he was selling at.
