I am getting rid of some fish in my 125 tommrow. The fish will go to my lfs. Now what I will be keeping will be 2 tinfoil barbs, 2 redhooks and a clownknife, and the tsn. My lfs had a 5'' silver arowana and a 6'' Jardini arowana and a gigas12''.I think it was called an aramaptia or something?? The manger said he was an arowana. The silver was 45 bucks, Jardini 88 bucks, and gigas 5 hundred bucks. Please help me decide which one to get. Also what other tankmates can I get for him??

U need a public size size aquarium to house a gigas. Jardini becomes very aggressive and will kill its tank mates as it grew. So if you want your an aro to have a tank mate go for the silver aro.

Ok. I am getting the silver. Now there should I still get him. Because a lfs worker stock a net into the tank and he jumped out and now has injuries. The manager said he would give me half off. I am going to other lfs to find silver arowanas.

lfs workers should know how to handle a fish...tsk tsk. How bad are the injuries though? If its nothing serious, you cant beat a 5" silver for only $20. Silver would also be your best choice. They are the more peaceful and least expensive variety

There are a few scrapes and scars, and a little wound.

I used to work at a LFS, and sometimes you can't help the fish from hurting themselves. You can have them in the bucket and they'll jump out. With an arrow it's only logical to cover him when your taking him out, but one time i had a neon jump, that was shocking. But if you really like arrows, i dont think you should worry about what tank mates you want with it, you should go with the species that you like the look of more. Then work everything else around it. Then again I also prefer the look of my Jardini over a sliver.

wow! a gigas?! man that fish will reach 15ft long!!! you need a house for that thing. they are fairly peacful with the fish you have chosen but your barbs will become dinner. anything that can fit in its mouth will be an invite to its mouth. make sure to feed it not just meaty foods but fruits and veggies too.

My 2 cents....

Airapima - 15' no way! Too Big for public home care
Silver - #1 won't fit in a 125 but for 1-2 yrs, #2 You'll be lucky if the CK or TSN don't kill it it week 1. Gets 3-4'.
Jardini - Best size fit, but still a 125 is too small and CK and TSN may kill him....or when he gets bigger he will kill them

Get yourself a 180 and give it all to 1 Jardini, best you could do.
