As far as I can tell, Beldt's is the best place around. Now there aren't too many places around but still. Anyway they have a pretty good selection of fish as well as a few other animals. Prices aren't cheap but they have the fish nobody else usually does. Definatley worth checking out:

They also had another store, Tropical Island Pets, that is owned by the same people but is now going out of business. They will be open until Sunday, Jan. 30 and have everything marked down 30%-50%. Check it out.

I heard about Tropical World Pets closing last night. I was in St. Louis yesterday, but can't make it back there for two weeks. Let me know if they have anything cool like rays, puffers, or any other oddballs

Just as a side-note, Beldt's is now under new ownership. Evidently they got bought out by a group of 4 gentlemen that are redoing the place. I talked to several of the guys and they are expanding their saltwater and cichlid sections, as well as trying to get in more oddballs. They have a couple rays there right now, but nothin special. It is defiantely something to look forward to in the future though.

Well, since they overpaid for the "name", probably aren't drawing any salary (if they are married, how long can that last?) and with four of them, that can only lead to confrontation, I wouldn't wait for the "distant" future. I know of someone just waiting in the wings to buy them out when they fail.
