These are probably the best stores for fish in the Indianapolis area, but that's not saying much. sad.gif

Uncle Bill's has 3 locations in the South, East and West sides of Indianapolis. All 3 stores have a pretty decent selection of fishes. The staff are moderately knowledgeable, but don't take anything as gospel. I used to go to the Southern store and it was my favorite until they lost their old fish room Manager. I don't care much for the new guy in charge.

Southern Location--this store has the best variety of rare/exotic plecs. They have also gotten some hard to find freshwater puffers in the last couple of months, though they have put them all in brackish water and they haven't done very well. sad.gif

Eastern Location--this store was just moved into a new, larger building. they usually has a good supply of CA/SA cichlids.

Western Location--this store has ordered from Jeff Rapp's before, though I don't know how long it has been since their last order with him. This is where I bought my 4.5-5" Astatheros robertsoni a couple years ago. I can tell you if you get a Rapp's fish from here, you'll definitely be paying for it. When I got that robertsoni, I know Jeff was selling them for $5.50 ea. and I paid $25 ea. for the 2 I bought here.

All 3 locations have your typical 'bread 'n butter' fish. These stores have a huge selection of supplies, but their prices are usually a fair bit higher than other places. They're definitely worth checking out, especially since there really isn't much else in the area. I can say that, aside from the fw puffers at the southern location, the fish at all 3 locations have always been extremely healthy.

I just moved down to Indiana for a year and ran across this store.. I believe it is the Southern one.. on 31... anyways .. they seemed to have a decent selection of fish.. fresh.. salt and brackish... the tanks seemed a lil cloudy... and there were some questionable tankmates... they had some good prices... but I couldn't get over my first impression of the place... when I walked in it seemed soooo packed with merchadise... it reminded me of a cluttered pawnshop.. seemed pretty dirty... it was also odd that they allowed people to pet the various animals (dogs, cats, ferrets...) that were displayed without staff help... and without washing your hands... I don't see much in the area soooo I willl prolly hit this place up from time to time to get my fix... maybe I am just spoiled cause I am used to Preuss' Pets in Lansing, Mi.. anyone that has been there knows what I mean...

I was passing by the store on 31 south of Indy.. and well I was thoroghly disgusted... they not only had painted tetras.. and painted parrots.. but they had Tattooed Parrot fish... they had a white parrot fish that had lipstick tattooed on it.. as well as some picture I couldn't make out.. there was also an orange parrot that had I (heart) U tattooed on it... disgusting..
