Ok, so i set up a 180 (6' X 2' X 2') tank.
Its got 5 bichirs, and a lima shovelnose.

I want to get an aro to cruise the top/mid level of the tank because its looking pretty bare. I was thinking either an asian aro or a jardini.
But, i've heard that jardinis are bitches when they get older. And asian aros are bitch ass expensive. I haven't seen a jardini around here for a long time, but theres a green asian aro (~6") at a LFS selling for $350 ( i like the rtg better, but they retail for $1500 here). I could probably work the price down to $300, but i dropped a lot on the tank and christmas. Should i impulse buy the green asian?

I wish i could afford a rtg.....
i'm leaning towards the green asian aro...

You think it'll make short work of my lima?

And, will it get drop eye from looking down at my bichirs?

Drop eye is typically only a problem in silver's. Mainly due to inbreeding, you shouldn't have a problem with the green, even if it is looking down a lot.

Hows the coloration on your green? Did it fade at all? Or did it get greener?

Not the best pic. But he/she actually has a pink tinge and a nice green spot on every scale, good coloration for a green. The colors develope as they grow as with all asian arowana.

ah, colors develop as they grow older, ic.

I was a little confused because on some sites it said that colors on a green fade as it ages.

Looks like i'm picking him up in the next couple days

Mine was a plain silver when young. Developed more color as it grew. I have had a few greens this is the only one I have kept to a decent size, and all have been plain silver as youngsters, or close too.
