just wondering if any other aro keeper ever see thier do this- I had just woke up and hear this "tap-tap tap" sounded like someone quietly knocking on a door -i turn around and see my then 10" silver aro bending upwards and tapping his head on the top of the tank blink.gif very snake like .My first thought was to pinch myself and make sure i was awake huh.gif second thought was I better start getting some more sleep biggrin.gif .just wondering if thats normal,i figure he was probably testing the lid to see how secure .Anyways heres a pic of my baby "Ceaser' cause i found he'll eat lettuce a while back (i dont feed it to him was for my g.gourami in the tank tongue.gif )

Was he swimming or sitting still when he was doing this? And how big is the aro? Where is your waterline at in comparison with the top of the tank? Sounds a little strange but I don't think you have to worry.

he was sitting still in the water ,and my water level is always annoyingly low on that tank (keep it about 2-4" below top of the tank. Also the top is always weighted down-thanks

He could have trying to get to an insect on the underside of the lid.

Yeah really weird but he was obviously focused on something. PK is right in that it might be a bug in the lights or somethin. You shouldn't worry unless he is still or continues to act strange.

I dont know if hes testing the boundaries like a velociraptor in JP, but he might have been after something like said above. The only time my aro hits the lid is at full speed and its more of a THUMP trying to jump out. that is pretty spooky

I threw in a bunch of crickets a couple of days ago, and one floated to the overflow and somehow got on top of the tank. The aro followed it all over the top as it crawled around. I agree above it probably saw a bug.
