could a jardini be kept with rays?
i like the jardini's the best out of the aro's but if there aggresive butts then that would suck because i want a ray & aro tank. but i dont want a silver aro.

Silvers can be super colorful and they're a much more docile species. the jardinis seem to be very aggressive. I have no idea whether they'd pick on the rays but I wouldn't doubt it. You could try a black aro.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT keep a Jardini with Rays. My 16" Jar is named Satan, and rightly so. He literally kills everything that crosses his path.
Silver Arowanas can be quite beautiful and are typically unagressive enough to be kept with Rays. Black Arowanas are even more docile and are very beautiful fish if raised right.

As of now, I'm keeping a 6'' jard with my 7'' ray. I have yet to see any tension between the two, although it is true about Jardinis being the aggressive of all aros. There is tension between the jardini and my datnoid, but it's not dramatic as the dat has his driftwood to hide amongst. When it comes down to it, it just depends on the temperament of your fish.

Just wait a bit longer before completely passing off that yours is an uncommonly peaceful one. A 7" Jardini is still a babe. Ours didn't start to turn till he reached about 10". Now at 16", nothing can live with him.

They turn to devils at the 11inch range. I have a juvi jardini with my rays right now so i still have time to grow it out.

I'm most likely going to sell the jardini and pick up some gouramis, the true predators

Does the Datnoid always retreat or dishes out occassionally?

I have a 18" jardini in a large mixed community tank which includes a 6" motoro and i dont have too many problems with aggression. The jardini did start to become aggressive once it grew to 12" but i managed to curb this by adding a 10" oscar to the tank for it to use as a target, the oscar can take the odd nip and is quite prepared to stand its ground which puts the arowana off its attack. Now after around 6 months the arowana rarely bothers the oscar or anything else in the tank is is more content in trying to remove my fingers every time i have my hand in the tank.
