That price is about right for a near colored-out sub-adult. Can't be certain without seeing it (multi-view and close ups). What size did he quote you?

He's ordereing a dozen from somewhere in asia in the next couple months. Said they'll be about six inches. He said the guy he talked to says by 12 inches they'll be fully coloured.
This is the same guy i was thinkin about buying the purple base chili red off of and that aro was the nicest fish i've ever seen.
He doesnt have anyt pics yet but was told they are the highest grade you can get.

Better find out where they are coming from, what farm. You'll want them to be from a legit place that will have them properly tagged and with proper certs or the Canadian gov't is going to confisgate them coming into the country. Also, you'll want to be sure it's a decent farm so you know you'll really be getting a decent red fish not something that is a sucky wannabe red. Also, if you see pics from the farm make sure they are naturally lighted....not with NAN red lights. If you notice some farms take pics out of the water with the person holding them in natural light, these pics are most accurate. Then you'll see others that are in a tank with red NAN lighting, the lighting can make a green look like a nice red so you have no idea what you're buying. Obviously you aren't going to use NAN at home so you're going to want something that is naturally red. Good luck, dropping $3000 on a single fish is always a big risk.....hopefully you'll get what you are looking for.

Are you part of the Vancouver group order? If so, and he says they are AAA grade, then they are AAA grade. $3000 sounds a little high though, i believe he could get cross backs and high grade reds for $1200 USD. And if you are part of the group order they are coming from Panda Aquatics of course with certs. And no matter where you live asian aros need certs.

The aro i bought off of him did come with a certificate. I believe the chili red he had before was from DFI so i'm assuming tahts where they'll be coming from.
