hey guys, can you put up pics of the various arowana species? i know rich and mel have some spectacular pics of their silver/black/jards so if we could get a good ID shot or two up here for each species that would be great. that way it could be pinned and kept for reference or whatever on this subforum. ...that and i just really like looking at your guys' arow shots wink.gif

we could also use a good pic of the Asian arowana variants, spotted arowana, and African arowana.

just to add some reference information on the species, here they are by geographic location:
=
South America -

-silver arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum)
-black arowana (Osteoglossum ferreirai)

=
Australia/SE Asia -

-jardini arowana (Scleropages jardini)
-spotted arowana (Scleropages leichardtii)
-Asian arowana* (Scleropages formosus)
=
Africa -

-African arowana** (Heterotis niloticus)

*illegal in the US under CITES I
**not a true arowana; actually more closely related to the SAmerican arapaima (Arapaima gigas) but called 'arowana' because of its similar appearance.

-----

we could edit this thread as needed, but i thought it would be a good one to eventually pin when we got some pics up. thanks!--

sweet! thanks for sharing guys; i may try to re-organize this thread once we get some more pics up, but these are great. i'll probably talk to mel and see how she wants to organize things for the thread, but i think it will be cool to have a nice collection of pics of the different species. thanks for posting!--

Hey Solomon:

Here are a few pics of "your" favorite fish from my tank. Hope this holds you for a while as I can't seem to be able to take good pics of him. Seems to always be hungry even though he probably eats 10 lbs of food a day.

Here is also a pic of my Black Arowana

And here is a pic of them swimming together
